Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) finally gave clearance to the Indian Railways for using KU band frequency from the satellite, for providing Internet facility in moving trains.
Wi-Fi in trains, howrah rajdhani, internet in trains

The Indian Railways proposed to make Internet operational in moving trains two years back but the project could not start as the ISRO clearance was pending. And the clearance was mandatory.
But soon we expect to surf the Web while traveling in a train. To start with, three rakes of Howrah Rajdhani will be uplinked with the satellite for facilitating Internet in coaches on a pilot basis. The passengers will not be charged for the service, as it would be a pilot project, said a TOI report.
Around Rs 6.30 crore was sanctioned by the Indian Railways for providing Internet facility in Howrah Rajdhani. The coaches will be linked through Wi-Fi connectivity and a custom-made antenna will be placed on the engine of the train.
The passengers can get the password on their mobile phones after dialing a special number given to them by the TTE. Depending on the success story of the pilot project, other trains would be provided with the service.
