With a host of Linux distributions available in the market, one often wonders which one stands out the most. Well, a recent survey has tried to answer just that. Lifehacker conducted a popularity contest and declared the winner as Ubuntu Linux. Moreover, there is a major release due today.
The popularity poll started inviting people to choose the best Linux distribution last week. And the results listed the top 5 Linux distros- Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Debian, Fedora, and Arch Linux. The publication reported that Ubuntu and its variants won more than 51 per cent votes solely and second next was Linux Mint, with almost 16 per cent.
While the page hit count on DistroWatch reveals to some extent what distro is drawing the most interest at the moment but it could not be accessed as to who is using what or what is the exact preference.
