Hitachi teams with Microsoft for ‘global cloud’

The two tech giants partner to offer global cloud solutions for Japanese companies.

Hitachi and Microsoft today announced a new partnership to help Japanese businesses expand their reach across the world.

The two firms are getting together to provide hybrid cloud solutions to the companies looking to grow globally, by giving them the extra capacity they need in different regions but keeping up support and security in whichever market they enter.

The technology involved is a mixture of the Hitachi Cloud Computing Solutions and Microsoft’s windows Azure platform.

A joint statement from the firms said companies were looking to deploy mission critical applications into the cloud, showing the delivery model itself had “evolved” to become more than just a “limited part” of the enterprise IT backdrop.

“Customers who apply cloud computing to their mission critical systems and expand their business to global are confronting challenges in efficiency of IT investment, safety and security of cloud computing,” read the statement.

“In this collaboration, by cooperation of leading-edge cloud computing services of both companies, Hitachi and Microsoft jointly provide hybrid cloud solutions which enable the reuse of existing IT assets, safe and secure collaboration among clouds, and quick IT system change corresponding to shift in business environment.”

Hitachi’s WAN acceleration technology will be the main driving force between consolidating data centres and ensuring collaboration between various bases around the world.

Microsoft will then use its platform offering to further integrate the management of IT assets, wherever they are housed.

Finally, the two firms will both contribute support services in Japanese, removing the barrier some firms have from moving their IT operations into different countries.

“With these efforts, Hitachi and Microsoft assist globalisation and business expansion of Japanese companies,” the firms concluded.
